If you sign up within 48 hours of the event, or have questions event day and need to reach a coach, please contact Doc Golden at 917-449-9138. We will NOT see emails event morning.
Time: 9:30am-11:00am (please plan to arrive by 9:25am)
We recommend you leave EXTRA time for subway delays, traffic, parking, etc! We unfortunately cannot issue any credits or refunds if you get lost, delayed or can’t park and miss the event!
Location: The swim will take place at Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY. Meet on the boardwalk behind the Cyclone Roller Coaster, adjacent to the NY Aquarium and public restrooms.
SUBWAY Q train to W 8th Street – NY Aquarium
DRIVING: There is usually parking EARLY on West 10th Street, off of Surf Ave. No guarantees at a spot, but the earlier you arrive the more likely there is parking on 10th Street.
*There are no lockers on the beach. Please leave all valuables at home. Empire Tri Club is not responsible for items left on the beach during our swim. Swimmers are welcome to drop bags by the lifeguard chair at your own risk during our swim.

Here is a self-assement to help you know which swim group you may fit into:
BEGINNER
-Nervous about swimming in open water
-Limited open water swim experience
-Little or no triathlon race experience
-You are a recent learner of basic swimming skills
-Struggles to swim more than a few laps in a pool without taking breaks
– Becomes winded easily during swimming
-Swims at a slower pace (3:00/100 or slower)
-Prefers to swim in shallower water
INTERMEDIATE
-Can consistently swim several hundred yards without stopping in a pool
-Looking to swim longer stretches
-Has some open water swim or triathlon race experience
-Possibly training for a middle-distance race such as an Olympic or half Ironman
– Comfortable treading water and swimming in deeper areas
